In Cabra, Quarry Road was originally called Quarry Lane, and is shown as such as early as 1837 on the first Ordnance Survey 6” map.1 On the map, two quarried areas are shown on the northern end of the lane.
It was still called Quarry Lane in 1902, when part of the lane was renamed Annamoe Road.
By 1935 the remaining stretch was called Quarry Road.2
(The decision to change the name is probably in the Corporation minutes, but I haven’t come across it yet.)
No longer in existence, Waterford Street was the last name given to the street running from Marlborough Street to Gardiner Street. See the entry for Railway Street for the history.
