Caledon Road

A road built off the East Wall Road in the early 1900s, the name was proposed by the builder, Mr Thomas Archer, and approved by the Corporation on 6 June 1904.1

There’s no evidence for the derivation of the name; ‘Caledon’ is a townland in County Tyrone, so perhaps there’s a link there?

There’s a Northern Ireland link to a nearby street, ‘Strangford Road East’, built by James Archer; perhaps they were related?
