Achill Road
A cul-de-sac running north from Home Farm Road, this street is one of several in the area named after islands. CHECK THE MINUTES FOR THE DECISION The street is shown in outline, but unnamed, on the Ordnance Survey 6″ revised in 1907-8.1 It first appears in Thom’s for 1909, with six houses listed.2
That same year numbers 2 and 4 Achill Road were advertised in an executor’s sale, along with numbers 1 and 3 Arran Road.3
In 1910 an extension to Achill Road was taken in charge by the Corporation,4 and in 1911 J.J. Flanagan, of Coolmount, Achill Road, advertised four ‘bright semi-detached villa homes‘ for sale, stating that in 1910 he had sold a number of similar houses on the opposite side of the street.5
