Love Lane (Ballybough)

A former name of Sackville Avenue, it appears as Bradley’s Lane in a map of 1794.¹ It was called ‘Love Lane’ as early as 1828² and the directory for 1834 says ‘Love Lane’, as does the first edition Ordnance Survey.

The name derived from Joseph Love, under whose will Love’s Charity was established.
