Ardmore Avenue

In the same development as Everton Avenue, I think that the name of this street derives from the townland of that name in County Donegal,¹ as the names of two other streets in the same development, Glenard Avenue and Doon Avenue, are also linked to Donegal.

I’ve no evidence, yet, as to why the names of these three streets have a connection to Donegal, while Everton Avenue and Ellesmere Road have a different derivation. It could, I suppose, derive from ‘Cabra’ also being a townland in Donegal, but that could be coincidence.

Perhaps the builder was from Donegal?
