Bonnybrook
Bonnybrook House stood on the townland of the same name, in the barony of Coolock, from as early as the early 1800s. It is described in the O.S. Name Books as: ‘A two story slated house, with slated offices houses, all in good repair, garden in good order & neatly laid out. Occupied by Mr. J.W. White.’1
In 1962 the Corporation approved the plans for the development of housing in Bonnybrook. As reported in the Irish Times, the ‘lands form part of the total area of 550 acres acquired under the Edenmore West Compulsory Purchase Order. The Kilmore and Bonnybrook sections will ultimately provide 2,800 dwellings. Provision is also made for a church, schools, open spaces, playing fields and a civic centre.’2
In April 1963 the Corporation invited tenders for the development works at Bonnybrook.3
